Since forming in late 2009, The Never Home has been on a tear through New York City’s music scene, showcasing their brand of refreshing Indie Folk-Punk. Playing over 20 gigs in the first 3 months alone, the band has become at staple at Lower East Side venues like, Arlene's Grocery, Pianos, and Crash Mansion. Even though their trajectory was quick, they have a cemented a reputation for powerful live shows and inciting crowd participation.
Coming from Connecticut by way of Michigan and Massachusetts, founding member and Lead Singer Patrick Holt, has been playing in bands for the better part of 15 years. Upon moving to NYC in his early 20’s to pursue music, he met fellow founder and lead guitarist Rene Martinez, while both were working as Art Handlers in the city. Jamming at first on a whim, they immediately felt a synergy between their two styles. The mixing of Patrick Holt’s singer/songwriter prowess, coupled with Rene Martinez’s California-grown punk rock, produced a unique style that had the two musicians inspired. Patrick Holt quickly called up two former classmates from Washington College to come and be a part of this new sound. After hearing some low-fi recordings, the Ringo-esque Matt Bray and bass aficionado Michael Cades, decided to join their old friend and hold down the rocking backbeat of The Never Home.
The band quickly moved into a house across from Manhattan in Union City, New Jersey. This affordable location allowed them to build a studio and work day and night on making music. With a DIY attitude and a catalogue of catchy rock songs, they are currently recording a 4 song EP in Long Island NY, and continuing to build their quickly growing fan base through touring in 2010.
