One need not look past day to day life in order to find fuel for gutpunching songwriting. “Everyday life inspires me.” For Point of Aporia, music is a way to confront the shadows in everyday life. The world is full of negative influence and music is a way of approaching it and exposing it. “I tend to fixate on the negative, mostly because there's so much of it these days ... What inspires me is that music is my venting agent. I focus all of it into music just so I can function in the real world.” Everyone has a drug that helps mitigate the pain. For Point of Aporia – and its fans – that drug is music. Catharsis through the eardrums. And catharsis is a much needed element in Point of Aporia's culturally oppressive universe. “I live in a town where music like mine, or the kind i listen to, is borderline outlawed. Let alone finding someone who could play an instrument with it.”
