Indy 5 Billion was born and raised in Brooklyn New York, the hip-hop capital of the world. Growing up, studying the greatest MC's, Indy began rapping, after dabbling in realm of the "DJ." He started collecting records at the age of 10. From house music, to you name it, Indy was hooked. After years of spinning tables, he and a close friend began writing rhymes. He sharpened his skills as an MC studying pioneers of the game such as Kool G Rap, Frank White, and Big Pun, but soon established his own creative style. Indy also produces all of his work, and states his major influences as Rick Rubin, Pete Rock, DJ Premier, Dr. Dre, and Havoc. Indy started off his production career being an intern for Sony Studio's, the legendary Hit Factory, and Axis Studios in NYC. He learned from the very best from Francois Kevorkian to the RZA. He co-produced Destinys Child's first single back in 1990, with producer Dan the Man, at Axis Studio's.
The rest is yet to come.... Indy's debut independent album "India Ink" features 13 tracks and is a mixture of South Asian and American sounds. The album features radio-friendly dance along songs such as the lead single "BombShell", a love story describing Indy's emotions toward a specific female, as well the raw street banger "Mass Appeal" which is getting some great reviews across the U.S. and in Europe. Other tracks include "Do you," which is self explanatory, as well as "Here Comes the Government." From Teaming up with Pnox, and other Mc's such as Don Revo, Young Pharaoh, G Deep, and Coney Island's own Speck, India Ink is definetely worth a listen.
Stay tuned for more news...
