For Atlanta, Georgia’s 23-year-old rising star Sherrell Jones, professionally known as BLUSHE, becoming a star has been a dream of hers since she was Five years old. BLUSHE has been writing lyrics since she was 8 years old, and her first song written was called “Butterflies” because she always loved the colors of butterflies.
BLUSHE describes her own music as fun and youthful while at the same time signifying deep meaning. “Pop music has always had my heart, but R&B/Soul Music takes me to another place, and that’s how my affectionate side comes out. Some of these stories can be meaningful and still be fun. I never choose to record a song that I can’t relate to in some way, shape or form. My music will always reflect who I am.”
When asked about her first experience in a recording studio, BLUSHE responded, “The producer was amazed at how well I did in the studio the first time. He said I took to recording like a duck takes to water! The studio band couldn’t believe I had never been into a studio before. I was very excited!”
BLUSHE’s voice is already distinctive, and she is continuing to develop her vocal strength and range via rehearsals and seeking constant improvement and constructive criticism in all areas of her life. She says, “I have spent time studying and researching everything I can about the music industry and becoming a superstar artist. I am sharpening my songwriting skills along with developing my total package which includes my image and my live performance. BLUSHE seeks out and attempts to apply all the advice she receives from music industry professionals that she meets, works with and those that serve as mentors to her.
In addition to Christina Perri, BLUSHE’s influences include the Queens of pop Madonna and Britney Spears, along with Queens of R&B/Soul --- Anita Baker, Whitney Houston and Keyshia Cole.
“Everyone has dreams and goals,” BLUSHE states. “I’m just going for mine to the extreme as a strong confident woman!”
BLUSHE intends for her music to provide a new means for her to give back to her community. Charitable organizations close to her heart include SADD, The Leukemia Foundation, Hosea’s Feed the hungry, and The March of Dimes.
